Favorite Romance Books

Hello all!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I am being a “basic” book blogger today I guess by talking about my favorite romance books. What can I say, love is in the air!

These are ten of my favorite books I’ve read that I would classify specifically as romance stories. I plan to do a separate post on non-romance books with a love story element or couple I love tomorrow. Also these are in no particular order!

Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli: When making this list, this book was the first one that came to mind. Simon is absolutely precious, and this story just made me feel all the feels. Additionally, the movie adaption is EXCELLENT.

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover: I’ve read a large handful of CoHo’s books, but only actually enjoyed two of them. Ugly Love took me just a few hours to read, all done in one sitting. I went into this with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised and seriously hooked from the beginning. And man do Tate and Miles have some serious chemistry!

Confess by Colleen Hoover: And here is the only other CoHo book I enjoyed. This one is hands down my favorite. It is an emotional roller coaster that goes some completely unexpected places. Be prepared to cry if you read this. It is my everything.

Wrong to Need You by Alisha Rai: While CoHo’s books certainly have some sexy times in them, and are definitely angsty, Wrong To Need You draws out the sexual tension SOOOOO LONG. And it is glorious, people. Also, the main characters are POC, and the main female is BISEXUAL. REPRESENTATION MATTERS, EVERYONE.

The Deal (Off-Campus book #1) by Elle Kennedy: This might be my favorite romance-specific book of all time. The main female protagonist is a rape survivor, and while that was important to the story, it wasn’t what the book was about. Also it has the friends to lovers trope which is my favorite!

The Blood for Blood trilogy by Catherine Doyle: PLEASE READ THIS. It is a modern Romeo & Juliet but with the Chicago-area Italian mafia. AND WILL RIP YOUR HEART OUT. I dare you to not binge-read this.

Dark Lover by J.R. Ward: Really the entire Black Dagger Brotherhood series, tbh. It’s my favorite paranormal romance series, with sexy adult vampires. Not ashamed.

Goddess of Spring by P.C. Cast: All hail a Perspehone & Hades retelling! I consume as many of these as possible, and this one is definitely in my top 3 favorite P&H retellings. It gives her agency and power and doesn’t make Hades a villain in any way. Also it takes its time building up to the smut. 😉

The Distance Between Us by Kasie West: Kasie West is a queen of cutesy young adult contemporary romances. I think she has like 7 or 9 altogether and has been churning out like 2 a year lately! This one is my favorite though. The romance in it between these adorable teens is based on more real life situations and plot points, and isn’t quite so fluffy. Also I think her writing is strongest here.

Just One Day by Gayle Forman: And finally we come to my favorite young adult book of all time. This book legitimately changed my life. It made me want to be more authentic and free, and was just exquisite. And yes, a romance is the center of this book, but also how to find yourself. It’s a beautiful coming of age story.
