Hello everyone! Summer is officially here… bring on the vacations, road trips, hot days, and events!
It’s going to be a pretty light month for me reading-wise. I’ve got some other things I need to start focusing on: my health, my family, and getting ready for a couple of 5Ks. But here are the books I plan on reading in the month of June.
“Cruel Beauty” by Rosamund Hodge: This was originally on my May TBR because I was planning on reading a handful of Beauty & the Beast retellings last month. However I didn’t end up having time for this one then. This turned out to be a good thing though, because one of the bookclubs I’m in – Seize the Book, hosted by Adele from Adele Is Reading – is reading this book this month! So it is now in my June TBR, and I am so excited about that!
“Panic” by Lauren Oliver: This is the bookclub pick for my IRL bookclub I have with some of my best friends, so that’s why it’s on my TBR this month! I am on the fence about this one, as I’ve heard many mixed reviews for it. But it’s what we’re reading and I already own it so onward I go!
“The Lies of Locke Lamora” by Scott Lynch: I have been meaning to read this book for so long! I did a Top 5 Wednesday video in April on Sci-Fi/Fantasy books on my TBR, and this was at the top of the list! I have owned the first 3 books in this series for years, and have heard so many amazing things about them! People on the internet rave about the series. Also, I will be buddy reading this one this month! With my booktube friend Kristen from KristensLibrary. I can’t wait! This is only my second buddy read ever!
The All Souls trilogy (books 2 & 3) by Deborah Harkness: FINALLY. These books are literally #1 on my entire TBR. I made a video of my top 10 books I need to read this year and these were at the tippy-top! I also made a post a couple of weeks ago on here about why I need/want to read these so badly. I’ll probably need to re-read the first one before reading #’s 2 & 3, but I will do that if I have to! It is about time guys, seriously. My BFF has been dying for me to read them for years, I read the first one 2 freaking years ago…. yeah it’s just time lol.
The Hyperion trilogy by Dan Simmons: if the All Souls trilogy is #1 on my entire TBR, then Hyperion is #2. This was recommended to me by a friend nearly 4 years ago, and then he saw that I own it and got even more excited for me to read it. But I haven’t yet. Because I am awful. This friend of mine just recently visited me again a couple of weeks ago and was disheartened to learned that I still haven’t read it. SO… I’m gonna do it now! I am really excited for this, because it seriously seems like a stellar piece of fiction with top-notch writing.
