Sooooo I wasn’t tagged by anyone to do this… oops. But I really enjoy the questions so I thought I would give it a go!
What was the last book you marked as “read”?
I was pleasantly surprised by The Reluctant Highlander! I received it from NetGalley with low expectations, but it was a fun read! I don’t normally read mass market romances, but I’ve been in a Scotland mood and a customer at the bookstore recommended Amanda Scott. I’ll post my full review of the book as soon as it’s finished 🙂
What was the last book you marked as “tbr”?
I saw this poetry book on Jessthereader’s Instagram – the author sent him a signed copy – and two things about it intrigued me: 1.) the name of the author is Atticus. YAS. and 2.) this style of poetry, based on the samples I’ve seen, seems right up my alley. I am just so intrigued by this collection of poetry and want to get my hands on it!
What book do you plan to read next?
Because this was on my June TBR and I shamefully failed at reading it. And it was for a book club! *hangs head*
Do you use the star rating system?
I do! I don’t really think it’s accurate, I wish there were 10 stars instead of 5, but it works as well as anything else. And I’m too lazy to give books a “grade,” even though that’s probably a better system to use.
Are you doing the 2017 reading challenge?
Yes! And I have already completed it as of early May 🙂 I set my goal pretty low because I wanted to make sure I read certain things (rape culture books, book club picks, buddy reads, etc.) so I knew I would read at least 30 books this year. But I didn’t want the pressure of reading so much this year – like 100 or something.
Do you have a wishlist?
A few, yeah! I have a wishlist shelf on Goodreads, and then a Book Depository wish list and a book-specific wishlist on Amazon too.
Which book do you plan on buying next?
I was in Portland yesterday at Powell’s bookstore (aka HEAVEN) and almost bought this there, but it was new & full price for like $19, so I chose to buy like 3 used books at a much lower price instead. BUT I still really really really want to read this one! So badly that I plan on buying it ASAP! I love anything Anne Shirley-related!
Do you have any favorite quotes? Share a few.
I do! And some of these I even have tattoos for!
“Atticus told me to delete the adjectives, and then I’d have the facts.” -To Kill A Mockingbird
“Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now… You’ll learn from them—if you want to. Just as someday, if you have something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It’s a beautiful reciprocal arrangement. And it isn’t education. It’s history. It’s poetry.” -Catcher in the Rye
“Sometimes the best way to find out what you’re supposed to be doing is by doing the thing you’re not supposed to do.” -Just One Day
“Every book, every volume you see here, has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it and of those who read it and lived and dreamed with it. Every time a book changes hands, every time someone runs his eyes down its pages, its spirit grows and strengthens.” – Shadow of the Wind
“Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that’s no matter—to-morrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther. . . . And one fine morning—— So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.” -The Great Gatsby
